Would you buy this 2001 VW Jetta with 205k . All service receipts since 2003 including synthetic oil changes and free brake pads for life from Meineke.
Here's an excerpt from the ad
Car died on me while driving to work 8 months ago. Took it to my mechanic who's serviced the car for over 10 years (I have all receipts). He told me I needed to get the timing chain replaced. I decided to buy another daily driver and park the Jetta until I could fix it.
I'm pretty much firm on $1000 so I've included the thousands of dollars worth of equipment I've invested in the car to sweeten the deal. I will not respond to low ball offers. I have a clean title in hand. Below I'll list every problem and every feature I can remember
Bad
Doesn't Turn Over - Needs Timing Belt
Drivers Side Window is off track and there is a minor dent in door. I've inclued photos of dents I could find
Trunk latch is stuck but you can access it from the back seat
Windshield has crack from rock chip
Regular wear but no rips or tears in a car or seat.
Glove box latch is stuck
Gas door doesn't completely lock
Good.
New Tires
New Clutch
New Brakes
New Battery
Pioneer Touch Screen Navigation with DVD Player and Sat Radio w/ box
Heated Seats
Clear Red Indicator Lights
2 Way Pager System with life time warranty and associated paper work
VR6 Engine
Limo Tint
CB Radio With External Speaker
System with interior speakers amp cap and subs.
DC Power inverter to plug in whatever you want.
Brake Pads are free forever at Meineke (Have appropriate paperwork)
Lifetime Warranty on 2 way Pager Alarm System (Have receipts and paperwork so you can redeem at anytime.)
For $1000 is this crack pipe or nice price?

If it doesn't have a timing belt then that means it broke while driving which in turn probably means you need to rebuild the cylinder head. If this guy was taking it to the same mechanic and he didn't have the where with all to replace said timing belt, then the rest of his work is suspect. CP

Aren't all the VR6s interference designs? If so, if the timing chain went, it'll basically need a new engine.
What's a Jetta with a seriously dead engine, bad bodywork, and wrecked interior worth around your way? Round here anything in that condition is worth whatever you can weigh it in for at the scrappy.

It may just have been more than he wanted to spend to fix it though
